Preferred Digital Karaoke Format
Preferred Digital Karaoke Format
I'm just curious as to what most people use as a preferred format for modern Karaoke tracks. Many vendors, including StingRay, Karaoke Version, and BKD offer MP4 versions of songs, while also offering the traditional MP3+G versions. Granted, the BKD MP4s are nothing more than a screen grab of the MP3+G but, the Stingray and Karaoke Version ones are higher quality videos.
Is it best practice to save space and stick with MP3+G, which is restricted to a much smaller resolution, or is it better to utilize the newer MP4-based videos? Conversely, is there no "best practice" per se, leaving it to personal preference?
Thanks for your responses, and sorry I haven't been super active here of late.

Re: Preferred Digital Karaoke Format
I voted for MP3+G because I don't like change
Re: Preferred Digital Karaoke Format
My karaoke discs are my pride and joy. They are all in mint condition and backed up. I have no idea about the formats available but MP3+G is the oldie that I would opt for because of its past record.
Karaoke is the spice of life.
Re: Preferred Digital Karaoke Format
Oh, I agree discs are best to retain the original audio quality. It's just that many vendors are doing digital downloads. I'm trying to weigh visual quality vs. storage and longevity in my decision.
Re: Preferred Digital Karaoke Format
I have never considered anything other than MP3+G.

^ this.
I did experiment a long time ago with video but I had so many problems I scrapped the idea.
I don't think I will try that again so basically, I stick to the tried and trusted methods nowadays, cos I am a chicken
Oooooh, I hate problems so I stick by my tried and trusted methods.
Nothing worse than when things go wrong at work and turning a karaoke show into a disco
Re: Preferred Digital Karaoke Format
If you can, do it but I don't think I will ever get round to this I am quite happy using the graphics as they are, I would miss them
Karaoke is for life - not just for Christmas
