Each karaoke player has it's own merits.
Some you will find extremely good and others are bad or too complicated.
The Selectatrack Player is not the best karaoke player in my opinion because I think that title goes to Karma without a doubt.
Although I haven't tried it, I believe you can import up to 1,000 tracks, so it should be OK for home use and not for professionals.
Yes it is perfectly safe to download but only from the official website.
It's good to see that you are experimenting.

Hi George,

I have to say the best karaoke player in my opinion is Karma.
It's fast, reliable and so simple - even the cat could use it.

I just checked out their website and it now says that it will also play certain video files - that's a new one on me but sounds good
It will also play those you download from Sunfly and Zoom etc - mp3+g (those are the zip files).

Once you try Karma, you will never look back.
I am not sure if you have a trial period but it is available here - you can only but try - https://www.karaosoft.com/ProductDetails_Karma.aspx

From time to time, Windows operating system or your anti-virus will give you a false positive.
I can assure you that Karma is safe as long as you download it from the official website that I supplied the link for.
If you get a false positive, you should have the ability to override any messages and install, if not, you can disable the over active security features on your PC/Computer.

If you have a specific problem, the owner of the website/software is approachable, drop him/her a line.
After all, they want your business and so should offer a solution.
I have a very old version of Karma so the new version may be slightly different, either way it's the best karaoke player I've ever had.
