To begin with, this karaoke label says ‘manufactured by RCA Special Products, a label of BMG Direct’. To explain why we point this out, Sony has BMG on their karaoke labels. This is indeed written ‘SONY-BMG’ with the dash being a treble clef. However, we think that the two companies have no connection, unless you know better. We are highlighting the use of ‘BMG’ but ‘BMG Direct’ seems to be a different entity. Nonetheless, the RCA label does not produce karaoke discs any more.

Basically these RCA karaoke discs have four with-vocal tracks at the start of the disc. Then they have four non-vocal tracks at the end.

With this in mind, are they worth pursuing? Avid collectors will undoubtedly say yes, if they have the space that is! However, for the casual karaoke disc collector this collection may not be practical. For example, there is a lot of discs in the series. But, they basically have only four unique songs. When you consider that most discs will easily accommodate 18-20 songs, this collection may be just a waste of space. Moreover, a waste of money!

Of course, should the karaoke songs be the best quality around, then acquiring them is a must. This is where our members obviously come in. This is because we only allow independent views. In effect, the Karaoke Shack team love all karaoke and needs to appear impartial.

Impressive List

For one thing, looking at the amount of discs in the list below is impressive. In fact, we appreciate the effort by RCA Karaoke. But, just to point out again, there are not many karaoke tracks on each disc.

There does indeed appear to be two discs missing from the list. Due to our list coming from only one member, he may not have those in his collection. However, they may be intentionally missing. In other words, may not exist at all. Obviously, if they do turn up, we will update all lists immediately.

To Sum Up

Even though these discs are rare, one member has two discs from the RCA Karaoke series. He owns RCA525 also RCA534 and rates them highly. For one thing, he says that they are very good musically and there is no issues with the graphics. The labels also have a rather large cute dog looking towards a microphone. This, of course, is very similar to the HMV logo of a dog peering into a gramophone player. With this in mind, is this a connection?

Of course we are relying mainly on the members’ feedback for these discs. Indeed, our staff don’t comment too much so as not to seem biased.
